Domine dilexi decorem domus tuae et locum habitationis gloriae tuae

Hullo all. I am a History student at Selwyn College, Cambridge. I am also a Catholic of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham (see the website of the Cambridge Ordinariate Mission). This little blog, for which I hope to find more time, is for my mediaevalism in all its excesses. I shall most likely blog about all things Gothic. Main interests of mine are:

  • mediaeval customary law and mediaeval kingship
  • the temporal and spiritual powers in mediaeval Europe
  • high to late mediaeval Scholastic philosophy
  • the writings of the ‘Salamanca School’
  • history of the theology of the Church
  • history of the doctrine of the Eucharist
  • history of the liturgy of the Eucharist
  • the ‘English Use’ or ‘Prayer Book Catholicism’
  • the English Musical Renaissance (c. 1840-1940)
  • the Gothic Revival
  • High Toryism, distributism, and libertarianism

Particular authors I enjoy:

  • Fr Aidan Nichols OP
  • Fr John Hunwicke
  • Edward Norman
  • the ‘Chesterbelloc’
  • Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn
  • F.C. Copleston
  • Percy Dearmer
  • Hans-Hermann Hoppe
  • Frank van Dun
  • Murray N. Rothbard
  • Kingsley Amis
  • Evelyn Waugh
  • Robert Nisbet
